Hotel locking normally uses RFID system or magnetic stripe system. For RFID locking system, high frequency (13.56MHz) under 

protocol ISO 14443A is the most popular choice for majority of hotels.  

Frequently used RFID chips for hotel locking system:
1_ NXP MIFARE Classic® 1K (Memory size: 1024 bytes; User memory: 716 bytes)
2_ NXP MIFARE Ultralight® (Memory size: 64 bytes; User memory: 48 bytes)
 
Frequently used magnetic stripes for hotel locking system:
1_ Low-coercivity(loco) at 300 Oe or 600 Oe

2_ High-coercivity (hico) at 2750 Oe
